How do I recover the menu bar in Word 2000?

I tried removing and reinstalling the program. It did not help. It must be
in the user profile, but where?

Make sure you are not in Full Screen by pressing ESC. Also try Alt + V to see
what View you are in. Make sure it's Normal.

Loss of menus/toolbars is a frequent result of a minor registry corruption.
