How do I set up assigned and unassigned work on Gantt Chart?

I am looking for a quick fix on two things.

1). Group work assignments by shared groups (I've read the instructions,
didn't help). Any simple way to do this will be appreciated.

2). Once I create the shared work groups, how do I show it on the Gantt
Chart view.

Thank you,

Hi -

I understand you are looking at options to assign task to a group of
resources.

I am new to shared work group, but a simple option is to create a work
resource representing a group, say Designer Group. If your Designer Group has
5 members, then have the [availability] units in Resource Information form
has 500%.

Drawbacks: Resource calendar is for the resource [Designer Group] and not
for the individual designers.

Please let us know if this helps.

Hi Sai,

I've tried your suggestion but it didn't get me what I am looking for. Below
is a clarification of the quesiton.

I am using MS Project 2003 and I’m trying to figure out a way to show
Assigned Work and Unassigned Work.

Here is my predicament. I have resources that are not dedicated to a
particular project so they switch from project to project regularly, and as
we encounter certain issues we move resources around as well.

I would like to create a group assignment group for Assigned Work and for
Unassigned Work and have multiple resources in each of the groups. This way
if one or more of the resources move out of the Assigned Work group I can see
what resources are available in the Unassigned Work group and reassigned them
if the need be.

Your assistance will be appreciated.
