How to allocate resources to a task

P

Philippe

Hi,

I am trying to allocate resources to each task. Some of my
tasks consume more than one person, but I would like to be
able to allocate the resources in such a way that, when
looking at the resource graph, it displays the resources
separately. For instance:

The task: Detailed analysis
The resources: John, Peter
Duration: 2 months

Peter is also assigned to another task at that same time.
When looking at the graph currently, it shows "John,
Peter" as if they were one single resource

John, Peter: 2 months / 100%
Peter: 2 months / 100%

(overallocation = 0)

when what I really need is:
John: 2 months / 100%
Peter: 2 months / 200%

Do you know how to do that without breaking the tasks
themselves into 2 separate tasks?

Thanks a lot
Philippe

Hello Philippe,

There are many ways (more that to do it the way you did it :)
My personal favorite is this one

Define all resoruces in the resource sheet
(Delete what you do not need such as John,Peter)
Gantt Chart View
Select teh task
Find and click the button "Assign Resources" - 2 faces
A little window pops up showing all your resources
Select John and Peter
Click assign.

I have a similar problem.

How do you show the assigned resources (John, Peter) in 1 resource graph? Right now, it shows 1 graph for John and 1 graph for Peter. I want to be able to show in 1 graph all the resources booked for that day and if they are overallocated.

Is there a way to group John an Peter in an Employees group? And then show in the resource graph for Employees who specifically is working on that day? Eg. John and Peter worked that day.

Thanks.

Hello Sung,
Of course, it's possible !
Create your ressource Group : for instance "JP" for John and for Peter in
the Resource Group.(Resource Sheet)
Display the Resource Graph, then : Format / Bar Style...
On the right side , for Resource overallocated or not : display nothing
On the left side, for Resources overallocated or not : display what you want
In the Filter drop-down list, select the "Group by" filter and enter "JP"

Hope this help,
