How to authorize a member to verify the completion of a task and s

Say, there is a project to manage and I am the PM. I can break down the
project to UI design, development, testing, etc. Now I want to authorize the
developer lead to verify all development tasks and subtasks. However, I don't
want to risk that he might, somehow, verify the work from a UI designer. How
can I manage to do that?

Define verify.
If you mean "Authorize to increase the %Complete as the team progresses..."
then:
Add a column such as Text1. In Text1 put the name of the person who has
authority over the task. Make sure to spell it correctly each time (or use a
custom pick list).

Using AutoFilter select the one name you want and mail him a copy of the
file for update.

Generally there is nothing in Project Std or Prof that will restrict access
to certain tasks. That is there is no "cell locking" like in Excel. It is
all or none.

Thanks for your reply.

Your solution sounds like to send email to someone, so he can easily modify
and mail back to PM and then update.

But this is not what I want.

Let me give an example, I have a proj and task1, subtask11, subtask 12 and
task2. Also, let task1 be a development task with subtask11 and subtask12 as
its child tasks, let task2 be a UI design task. Now I have a development lead
named Bob in charge of task1, also I have Cindy and Daniel to work on
subtask11 and subtask12 respectively. Now I want to authorize Bob to verify
if subtask11 and subtask12 are truely finished. By default, only PM has the
authority to approve the task update, right? How can I authorize Bob to
approve the update of subtask11 and subtask12 but not task2?

Many thanks.

Todd,

Pardon me for bumping in. From your post it sounds as though you are
using Project Server. If so, I suggest reposting your question to the
Project Server newsgroup. Although most of the folks who answer
questions visit all the newsgroups, the server "gurus" are more focused
on the server newsgroup.

If/when you post to the server newsgroup, please include in your post
the version of project server you are using.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie for your suggestion. I have made a new topic in the Project
Server board.

I am a new guy to project as well as to the newsletter group, so, forgive me.

Thanks,
Todd
