how to compare schedule progress

Hi,

i am all new to microsft project palnning, i understood basic functions of
the tool, but i am not able track planned and actul dates.

i have made field names
planned date - actual date , and planned end date - actual end date

is it possible to compare visually, does this work? or is there any other
alternative for this.

Hi Sreeni,

Before entering actuals you should go to Tools, Tracking, Save Baseline
Planned values are then stored in Baseline Start, Baseline Finish, etc.
Then you enter actuals (Actual Start etc.)
Now you have access to variances (Start Viariance, Finish Viariance...)
You can see them graphically in the Tracking Gantt view.
