how to fix when word2003 closes when attaching files in outlook20.

In Outlook 2003, I select a new e-mail then word opens, I click on attach a
file and window opens where you would search for the file. Right after that
a warning comes up "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Does anyone know about this problem?
