How to make Project to adjust task according to resource availabil

I

Lets say there are couples of tasks (fixed units, no set dates) and all of
them having the same resource assigned at 100%. How can I make Project to
adjust start date of consecutive tasks to a date when resource becomes
available?

Thank you in advance,
IK

Hi,
use the leveling feature:
Tools / Level Resources.... / Level Now

Microsoft Office Project 2003 automatically creates a resource calendar
(based on the Standard calendar) for each resource. By default, the
Standard calendar is the project calendar. The project calendar is applied to
all resources as you add them. You can either assign a different base
calendar to the resource, or you can modify the individual resource calendar.
If a resource is not avaiable for the full duration of the project, then
you may need to modify the individual calendar for the Resource.

On the View menu, click Resource Sheet.
In the Resource Name field, select the resource you want to assign a
calendar to.
Click Resource Information , and then click the Working Time tab.

That’s exactly what I need. Changing leveling calculations to automatic does
it. What is the way to limit leveling range to specific tasks instead of
entire project.

Thanks for your help.

Hi IK,
It is not necessary to set your leveling calculation to automatic. If you
leave your leveling calculations to manual, then click the Level Now button
when *you* choose to level.
With leveling set to manual, you may select the date range of tasks to
level, but not specific tasks.
Hope this helps. Let us know know you get along.

You can also level by resource. I find this very use full since you can
select specific task to level. You do this by leveling while in the Resource
Usaage view.

The task priority (defaults at 500/1000) also determines which task is mved
and which stays put. If equal, the order in which they were entered into the
plan (Created) plays a part.

Excellent hint, at least some flexibility! And I would say, “you can select
specific RESOURCE (not task) to levelâ€. Project allows to clear leveling for
specific tasks, so I’ll try to use combination of both.

Appreciate everyone’s help.
