I am running XP Pro and do not like to have the tool bar lurking on the side.
How can I remove it from my desktop?

To set the Office Shortcut Bar to autohide when not in use, right-click on an
empty area of the OSB and click on AutoHide. If you really never want to see
the OSB again, you can uninstall the feature by clicking on Start | Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Microsoft Office XP | Change | Add/Remove
Features | Microsoft Office Tools | click on the black downward-pointing
triangle to the left of Office Shortcut Bar | click on "Not available" |
update the installation.
