transfer 97 files to 2003

I just got a new computer with windows xp home edition and office 2003. When
I save an office file to CD on my old computer (windows 98 and office 97) the
new computer won't recognize that the file is on the disk. HELP!!!

Save your file on your harddrive and then copy or move or use your CD
burning software to burn the file to the CD. Don't save directly to the CD.
You're just asking for corrupt files.

In this case you need to reverse Echo's suggestion.

Copy the file from the CD to your hard drive, right click on the file select
properties and clear the Read Only attribute. If you have a number of
files, first copy them to a new empty folder on your hard drive. Then, in
Windows Explorer, go to that folder and select all of the files. Right
click on the group selection and clear the Read Only attribute. Then move
them where you want them.
