huge file

I have a huge file over 10,000k that I need to update and break into chapters. There are embedded graphics and pictures, bitmaps and about everything else in this document. How do I copy multiple pages but not all the pages. Also, if I try to do a straight copy...I lose the grapics. I am totally frustrated...I upgrade last week to xp 2003 and feel like I can't find anything.

Save the entire file under multiple filenames, then delete the unwanted
portion from each file.
