Hyperlinks to other files in word xp don't save right

I am creating word xp docs with hyperlinks in them after i veiw them once,
the path gets messed up. The documents are stored on a file server, are not
protected. But, they work on other machines from the same location.

This helped me resolve a similar issue:

Tools---Options---General---Web Options---files---Uncheck update links on save
