First - take a deep breath and stop using exclamation points. Periods will
do nicely. ;-)

Have you checked View - Pictures - Detailed Display? Has it ever worked
properly on your system?

First question is when did this problem start or has it ever worked on this
machine? If the failure is recent, then back up and see what if any changes
have been made to system settings. I'm confused about when you see the
problem - is it only after the file has been saved and reopened, but prior
to saving the file you can see pictures or wordart?

This started about a week ago. The only changes I have made to my system was
uninstalling McAfee b/c it expired and installed norton antivirus. My
computer used to show the graphics, until about a week ago it was never a
problem. When i scroll down in word and there is an embedded object, i can
see it at first until i scroll down. Then when i scroll back up it is gone.
I can click on the box - the program recognizes there is a picture there, but
will not show it. When in publisher I create a file and save it, then reopen
it later to work with it none of the pictures show up and also it does not
show up in print preview either. But will print the graphics still.
thank you for helping :)

Hey thanks for all your help.. I did some searching on the internet, and
found another group where ppl were having the same problem. They had a
solution and I tried it and IT WORKED! So now all my frustrations are fixed
:) For anyone that might be having the same problems... here is what i did:

Right click on the desktop
Choose “propertiesâ€
Click on the “Settings†tab
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Troubleshoot tab
Then you can move the slider all the way to the left to disable the
acceleration.
thanks for all your help!

After you'd cleared the cache, that was going to be my next suggestion.
Seems to be a common problem on newer computers. Makes me glad my video card
is only a 16MB. (About time it's an advantage!)

No one ever seems to "get" this. This is NOT a solution. You could class
it as a workaround, but it's actually a DIAGNOSIS.
The fact that disabling acceleration works means that you have a problem
with your video driver. Until you find a video driver that works, you will
have to have a lower hardware acceleration, which will cause some other
applications to not function properly.

Hi Krystal

I think the answer for your problem is in your message below. The problem
started when you installed Norton Antivirus. I live in a retirement
community and I have had to remove Norton Antivirus from about 10 computers
in the last year or so. Including my own! There were always various and
different problems that would occur. One lady had just bought a top of the
line HP laptop with all of the options (cost was not an issue) including
Norton. It would do strange things and just did not work correctly. I
removed Norton and replaced it with another program and she has not had any
kind of a problem since. This has been the case with all of the others
computers where I removed Norton. They all work now.

Go to Amazon and read the reviews about Norton Antivirus. It is not good
reading for them!

Hope this helps.

Bill

Bill, I have used Norton for years with nary a problem. If you read through this
article, you may not have had to remove Norton from your computers.
