I can't find Word on my computer. Where do I look for it?

I just got this computer from a family member so I am new to XP. I can't find
the Word icon. Also as I am applying for jobs, I am trying to use my word
documents, but it keeps going into something called WordPad. Does anyone have
any suggestions on where the real Word program is hiding?
Thanks!

XP doesn't come with Word. No Windows version has ever had anything other
than Wordpad or Notepad. You will have to buy it.

Word in not part of Windows, it is part of Office. Your best bet to
see if it is installed is to search for "winword.exe". If it's not
found, you don't have word and will need to either make due with
WordPad or go buy Office (or just Word).

On the Office disc that can be purchased from your local software emporium
you blonde bint. *Windows* XP is an operating system (the clue is in the
name).

There is no need for such rudeness. The average user doesn't know which
programs are part of the OS and which are not.

Also, sometimes MS Word (or MS Works) does come with the computer. It all
depends on what the manufactured decides to include in the software bundle.
