I have 2 seperate PPT. templates. How do I merge them onto 1?

I have been sent a saved template for a presentation cover and a seperate
template for the text. When I try to "copy' the text template and paste it
onto the cover template, I keep getting a duplicate of the cover slide. How
can I copy the text slide into the cover template and save it their?
