I have no "Page Setup"

J

Just Judy

I'm running Word 2003, on my WinXP Home, one-year old computer.

Where's my "Page Setup" command that normally would reside in
the "File" menu? I know it's supposed to be there, 'cause the Help
menu wouldn't lie to me:

"On the File menu, click Page Setup,
and then click the Margins tab."

Suggestions?

Thanks, folks,

Thanks, folks,

Look at the bottom of the File menu for a down-facing arrow. Rest the mouse
over it, and lesser-used commands should show.

Thanks, Doug, but there's no such arrow. Despite that, I moved
the mouse all over and around the File Menu commands, and nothing new
appeared.

Any other suggestions? Surely, a man who can fish can solve my
problem. <g>

1. Do you have a document open?

2. Do you have a printer driver installed on your computer?

1. Do you have a document open?

Yes, I do.
2. Do you have a printer driver installed on your computer?

Yes, I do.

After reading your response, I took a look at WordPad, and
it_does_have a Page Setup command under the File menu, whether or not a
document is currently open. Does that offer a clue?

Thanks for the response, JoAnn; do you have any other
suggestions?

'tis a puzzlement,

I figured out the problem. Geez.

All I needed to do to see the Page Setup was to:

View|Toolbars|Customize,
and then add "Page Setup"
to the commands.

Thanks to all for your time & effort. I'm embarassed that I
didn't figure this out sooner as I love to dink with any Customize or
Options command. <g>

Sounds like someone customized that command AWAY at some point in the past.
It's usually present in the default setup of Word or Office.

You are correct, Doug: Guilty as Charged. <g>

Seeing the responses to my question was what triggered further
investigation on my part, despite the fact I thought that I'd already
checked everything possible to solve the problem. Obviously, I was
wrong.

I did want to post the solution back here just in case someone
else has the same problem, or, even better, if someone here didn't
realize they had the option to change the menus and toolbars. If you
choose to change your options, don't embarass yourself by coming here a
year later and asking why something is the way it is. <G>

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

For 10 years, I've been telling myself it would be a good idea to make a
handwritten journal of every single change I make to Windows or my installed
software. I'm still thinking about it. :)
