I messed up my install

When I installed office xp I thought I was being clever
and setup a new folder to install everything into it along
with some of my other microsoft products.
I would like to uninstall office and fix all of this. (It
just looks messy).
My question - will I need to save all of my documents and
spreadsheets to a diskette so they won't be deleted or
will they be ok. I am a heavy office user so I have many,
many files.

It shouldn't impact on yr docs/data however as in all cases a backup of data
should be part of yr routine.
