I updated to XP from 2000 and lost word/excel/etc. Why?

I had 2000 on my laptop and had a XP upgrade disc and used it.
When I turn on my computer I can run 200o or XP. If I pick XP, I do not
have word, excel, etc. Why? Can that be fixed?

You upgraded what 2000 to XP? Office or Windows? And what do you have the
choice of 2000 or XP - Office or Windows?

(I am not happy that MS has named so many things with similar names. It can
be confusing all over the place.)
