help with password pages

i would like to add passwords to my pages so that users can access their own
pages on my site, I know how to put a password box on the page but i don't
know what to do next, do i need a seperste file for storing the password
details, how do i go about performing all of this task.

Yes. Keep in mind, the feature is only available if the host allows it.
Many don't. You may have to contact them.
