In publisher when I send 1 page by email do only some hyperlinks

David Oakey

I have about 30 hyperlings to web pages in a one page document in publisher
(latest version) they are all set up the same way, but with different links,
when I send this page as an email, why do only some of the links work, ie
the curser only changes to a hand on some of them

1. You only need to send once. And after you do, please wait more than a
half hour before you start to answer. Not everyone lives online (like some
people accuse me do doing).

2. Are you aware that sending emails with Publisher isn't the best way to
send info? I've run into problems because some of my people don't see all of
the pretty graphics that I use when I send an email out that way. .pdfs
really are the best way to share information.

Except for people like some of the ladies in my quilt guild. Most of them
have dial-up and won't tie up their phone lines long enough to download
Adobe Reader. :-(

I tried to save money for our quilt guild by sending the newsletter by email
with pdf attachments. Some of them didn't even understand that they could
print off the newsletter!

Out of the 41 newsletters that go out each month only 2 go by email with pdf
attachment.

In this day and age, it's virtually impossible NOT to have Adobe Reader. It
comes with every single cover CD you get with every single computer
magazine, as well with every single software CD you get (to be able to view
the product manual, supplied invariably as PDF only) and every single driver
CD you get with an item of hardware (for the same reason). I find it
incredibly frustrating, however, that with the latest wireless drivers from
Belkin, Adobe Reader is included with the driver package. I have to
download 22MB of excess filesize on a 25MB package to get something I
already have.

Donna -

Did you know that there's a Yahoo Group for guild editors? If you want,
contact me offline and I'll get an invitation sent to you.

As Ed said, all new computers have Reader pre-installed. I also deal with
low-tech guild members and I know what you're going thru. It's going to take
a little teaching on your part but it's well-worth the lesson. I have
members who now want to try a multi-participant chat after the holidays. Not
bad for a bunch of people who are used to telephones and paper newsletters.

Ed, I thought everyone had Adobe Reader - like you, I thought it was
impossible not to have it! But, obviously not!

One of the ladies in question gives out her email address and then later
tells you quite bluntly that she 'never' reads her email. It's beyond me
why people give out their email address if they have no intentions ever
reading any email sent to them! This same lady was the secretary this year.
She has Word - has no idea how to use it - she uses some card program to
write the minutes and then mails the minutes to me!

Sounds like several of the ladies I know. Our secretary uses Word for the
minutes and then sends everyone a copy via snail mail. And if I showed you
the officer roster and you looked at the way it's formatted, you'd cringe!!

People should learn not to mess with women who wield sharp needles and
scissors. ;-)
