Indeterminate starting date

Velson

I am developing a number of proposals, but have no idea yet when they will
start (sometime in the next 12 months) or how they will mesh together. Is
there a way to have a project start on Day 1? When the timescale, resources
etc are clarified, the start date can then be entered and the project details
refined. Project seems to like certainty and life ain't like that.

I am using Project 2000.

Hi Velson,

You are correct in that Project needs a start date (Project > Project
Information) from which to start scheduling a project. However, you
could format the timescale in the Gantt chart to show Month1 (from
Start), Week 1 (from Start) and/or Day1 (from Start) to make the project
plan appear a bit more "generic".

Once you know the actual start date of the project, simply change the
date in Project > Project Information to adjust.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you, just what I needed. It would be politically unwise to display
dates which might be taken as gospel.

You're very welcome Velson and thanks for the feedback. I agree, often
best to keep things a bit vague until firm decisions have been made ;-)

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
