Insert Image from Scanner Into Outlook Task

Is there a way to insert an image directly from scanner into an Outlook Task?
It can be done from a new e-mail if Word is default e-mail editor, but the
same option is not available for a new task. I realize the best way is to
scan the image, name it, save it and attach it; however, I need a more
efficient solution for quick notes. Thanks for the feedback in advance.

I should note that I am using Outlook 2003.

I don't have Outlook, but the other Office apps come up as an option if I
double-click my scanner in My Computer (or right-click and select the
option). Have you tried looking there?

To further clarify, when I begin a new task, I would to scan a document/image
into the task notes/comments.
