insert next record in data base.

I'm trying to make a church members book. I created a data base and set up my
fields, then, merged into my text box, but I can't get it to go to create
mulituble records. How do I get it to move on to the next record I would
like to have 2 records on a page.

Are you viewing print preview? It will show the same data in each text box, this
is a bug in the Publisher program.

When I tell it to print, it prints the cover page, and any other pages each
time, as if it were merging for letters, not as if it was a booklet. I want
the records to follow, at lest one on a page, I would like two, but would be
glad for one. I have publisher 2002. What am I doing wrong?

If you are doing a booklet, create the cover as a separate publication.

Publisher treats mail merges as labels. Merging to a booklet setup isn't an
option in 2002. There are workarounds and in my opinion, labor intensive. One
option would be setup a custom page 4.25 x 5.5, this would print four entries.
Actually it is the postcard setup. I assume you want to print on both sides and
yet the directory should be in alphabetical order. It may mean you would have to
use different databases for each side.

I think Word can do this... If you had Publisher 2003...

Hi, Charlie B -

If you check back AND if you have Word (like Mary mentioned) , you can set
up your merge in Word.

For example:
<firstname> <lastname>
<address>
<city>, <state> <zip>
<phone>
<notes>
be sure to include AT LEAST ONE CARRIAGE RETURN here --- it will give you
space between your individual records when you do a step below!

You can filter and sort nicely in Word merge. Do the merge.
Each "record" will be on a separate page of the word document.
Select all (or highlight and pull down through all the pages).
Copy.

Now go to your waiting, prepared Publisher document.
Paste into your first waiting text box and let it flow.
(If you had one page set up, it will ask you if you want it to create
additional pages -- say yes and see how it works. Or, you can have the whole
document set up with as many pages as you want --- with blank text boxes
waiting on the prepared pages-- just let it flow from text box to text box.)

You can then adjust the number of entries per page by pulling or pushing
your text boxes or carriage returns, etc.

(I also experiment with pasting into Notepad and Wordpad to and from Word,
Publisher, Dreamweaver and other programs. It seems to make things that seem
impossible--like pasting from Publisher into Dreamweaver --- possible.)
