I am able to insert a linked Excel 2007 object (a chart) into Word 2007 and
then to resize it to 80% of the original size, however when I reopen the
document and the links are updated the object resizes to the original size.

How do I preserve the formatting of the object whilst still being able to
update the linked object?

Size the chart object to what you want it to be, then cut the chart object,
create a 1-cell table in the preferred location & paste the chart into the
cell. Format the table cell for No Border or however you please.

CyberTaz- You are an absolute Star!

This is the first time that I have used this site and you answered my
question in 30 minutes. I am well impressed. Thanks very much. (Point
taken about the wrong group- the list of groups was daunting).

Yeah, that UI is atrocious, but the linked page should be easier to deal
with :) Glad the suggestion worked out.
