inserting a slide and maintaining it's background

I have several slides that I need to insert that have a
different background than the desination PP. Is there a
way to maintain the inserted slides formatting (master
background) and such. When I insert slides now, they take
on the formatting of desination slides.

This is not possible if you are using PowerPoint 2000. I
believe with some later versions this may be possible...

yes I think there is.. if you look at the slides in slide
sorter and select the ones you want to change the
background master, then right click and select select
slide design, right click on the design you want to apply
(shown on the right hand side of your screen) and
select "apply to selected slides".. this should work so
that those selected slides have a different master to the
rest of the presentation.. let me know how you get on.
