Installing Custom Solutions and File Paths

For Visio 2002, we created a set of templates and stencils that we distributed to our customers using an InstallShield package. This install program placed the templates in the "1033\Solutions" directory where Visio 2002 was installed on the users computer. By placing the templates in this directory, the templates automatically showed up in the "Choose Drawing Type..." window.

With Visio 2003, the Solutions directory does not exist, and just placing our templates in the 1033 directory where all of the other MS templates reside does not make them appear in the "Choose Drawing Type..." window. In Visio 2002, the file paths option for stencils and templates defaulted to "1033\Solutions". In Visio 2003 these file path setting are blank by default.

By creating a Solutions directory, setting the stencil path and template path to it, and placing our templates in that directory made the templates show up in the window.

What we would like to do is make our stencils visible to Visio 2003 users automatically by having the install program set the template and stencil paths in the registry or by some other method. However, it appears that Visio 2003 makes these settings user specific, but we would like our templates to be available to anyone who uses the box, not just the person installing our templates. We would like to avoid each user having to set the file paths manually.

What is the proper method/location of installing custom solutions for Visio 2003?
