Interruption in Project Plan

I have a project that has been interrupted by our customer. This has an
unknown duration right now but I would like to reflect in the schedule what
the delay will do to our end date. I want to be able to report in our weekly
status meetings that project X is now X days behind schedule because we are
not currently working on it.

What is the best way to be able to do this? I was thinking I should insert
a task and then make all of the unfinished tasks successors to it, but then I
don't know what to do about already started tasks.
Finally how do I reflect that my resources are not working?

Thanks for any help,

I would save a copy of the project as is, then resave the baseline. Add a
milestone task to reflect the future date when the customer says go again.
and make sure all remaining tasks are linked directly or indirectly to it.
The tracking Gantt will show the delay compared to the baseline dates.

Hi,

I would do it like this:
Tools
Tracking
Update Project
Reschedule uncompleted work to start after...

This does exactly what you want; it even splits half-finished tasks.
Toy will have to put existing constraint to asap as stupidly enough it
refuses to work on constrained taks :-(

That works, I can just update it that way weekly as we sit in our holding
pattern, correct?

Hi,

:)) If you like you can do it 20 times a day, why not?
This being said, it only makes sense when there have nbeen other changes to
the project such as the introduction of %complete or actual work...
In practice I imagine you'd typically do it weekly, yes.
