Is there a way to sort lists alphabetically?

Is there a way to sort a list of names alphabetically without having to
import & export from Excel?

I've tried a test list in Word but couldn't see a way to do it without using
a Table. Is there another way?

Even tho the Sort command is under Table menu dropdown list, the items to be
sorted do not need to be in a Table.
