Is this a bug in Leveling?

Hi,

Project Pro 2003.

I have a plan with 3 named resources and 1 generic resource. The generic
resource is set to 300% availability.

I assign work to the named resources for the next few weeks and assign the
rest of the work to the generic resource.

When I level the plan Project OVER ALLOCATES the generic resource. It
assigns 16-25 days of work to the generic resource where it should only
assign 15 days/week.

The leveling I am using is week-by-week.

Can anyone explain this behavior?

Hi Matthew,

You might have the option "level only within available slack" set
If not, do not hesitate to send me the file, I want to solve this one.

There is a bug fix for a leveling problem with P2003.
Maybe this would help here too.-

I am not using the "available slack option".

Can you detail the bug and the fix?

Hi Mathew,

I looked into your file rapidly but did not do any in-depth research for
lack of time.
I immediately noticed an unusual amount of FF links and I know these may
give curious resulmts when leveling.

When reading the tasks, I wonder: do you really want an FF link? that says
Task B MAY NOT or CAN NOT finish BEFORE task A finishes. This is rarely
exactly the behaviour people want and it doesn't look like the right model
for your type of work.

With a little bit of luck, I'll have some time over the weekend to give it a
more profound analysis and I'll be back.
