Issues

Hey All,

I have a couple questions that i need to see if there is a solution for or
if it is going to be a "Project" thing.

I have a task that is 5 days long, it is fixed duration and not effort
driven, i have a generic resource assigned to it and that resource has a max
of 10 people or 10000%, i assign this resource to the task at 100% or 1
person and then i change the countour to be a bell curve.

Now i recheck the duration has not changed but my work has been halved.

This happens to all of th work contours but the amout lost varies, i have
tried this using the multiple way that is allowed and inputs are changed.

any other thoughts or solutions?

The scond issue is that why am i uanble to create compound relationship ,
for example task A starts and 3 days later task B can start, but task B is
only able to finish 2 after task A. the Relations ships should be A
Start-Start + 3, A Finish-Finish +2.

Project Rejects this level of planning and dont anyone know why?

thank you

Hi,

Trevor thank you for your reply. Firstly let met me say that the default
linear allocation of resourcing is 100% unrealistic. The allocation of a role
will never be in full swing untill part way in and the resource will not work
at 100% at the end. There for the use of contours is required for the
schedule and alocation of a resource for a project or programme of works.

I have had this issue ith Project for a while now and i have not heard as to
why to allocation changes when i have not told it to.

As for the compound links, there are required for pre-planning or strategic
programming For example, if task A is 5 days long and taks B is 5 days long,
and i have a link of B start-start +3 and i also want a link of B
finish-finish +2. in that situation task A start-start is the driver but if
task B is accelerated by 2 days there for bis now 3 days. the Relation of
finish-finish is the driver. thus allowing a contract program to no be
altered but still have the correct lead or lag times.
