Joint Effort on a Task

Brian

I'm new to Project but I would think there is a way to do this.

I have a task, say it takes 1 day of actual work (so, 1 person at 100%).

But, the task needs to be done by two people working together. (So,
they cannot divided up the work and each go to the seperate corners and
work).

The resources have different commitment levels. One is at 80% and one
is at 40%. How do I show that both resources are "working" on the task,
but that really it must finish at the rate of the "slowest" person.

Both of the people also have different calendars, which I have setup.
Will this cause any problems?

Does that make any sense?

Brian,

The easiest way to do that is to use the Task Form (Window / Split window)
Format / Detail / Resource Work
There you have everything you need to assign your resources the way you
want.
Hope this helps,

Oh boy.
Did you read about the weaknesses of Project?
You are straight in the middle of one of the major flaws.
Two assignments on a task will nearly always, and especially when calendars
are different, be handled independently and there is nearly no way to ensure
simultaneity between both.
I wonder, though, how they can work together when one only works 24 secs
every minute and the other one 48 secs evvery minute (which is how Project
plans these percentages)

Hope this helps,
