Junk E-mail Filter update won't install

Mike D.

Hi all -

I have 2 computers that won't install the latest Junk E-mail Filter update.
I have tried installing via OfficeUpdate and downloading the update manually
and running the install. The Windows Installer logs (as well as the error
on the screen during the install) show the following:

Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - Update 'Update for Outlook 2003
Junk Email Filter (KB873362)' could not be installed. Error code 1603.
Additional information is available in the log file.

Of course the log file doesn't have anything useful.

Previous OfficeUpdates have installed without any issues. Diskspace is not
an issue, and the source files are on the HD.

Any ideas?

TIA

Maybe this would be worth looking into, it solved the same problem for
me with a previous junk mail filter update!
The answer to a failed installation of Junk Mail Filter is contained
in The
Knowledge Base article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;884186
It's possible you have been running an incomplete installation of
SP1. After running repair and ensuring I had the latest versions of
the Office programmes as described I found the update ran
successfully.
