Levelling Problems

Chris

I am having Problems with the levelling of my tasks.

After trying to have MSP level them for me, I see that many tasks are still
run in parallel, thus overallocating my resource, and giving an
unrealistically early finish date for my project.

This is the second version of my project plan, the first one didn't have any
problems and had a stricter sequencing (A->B->C).

The problem arose after the strict sequencing was removed (sequence doesn't
matter as much anymore), and MSP now has a lot more leeway in changing the
order of tasks.

I have done the following to try to remedy this problem:

-removed all the constraints and deadlines
-prioritize certain tasks over others
-try to calculate the project backwards (from a project finish date I know
is feasible),

and I still don't get any results.

Hints, anyone?

Hi,

Leveling does sequence the tasks except when it can't
You probably have lots of tasks where a resource is overallocated on the
task itself (leveling can't help that) or where both a task and its summary
task share a resource...

My experience is that the best way to discover what might be the problem is
that you send me the file (jandemes at prom-ade dot be).

Hope this helps,
