Linking tasks no longer causes dependent tasks to be scheduled

When I link task 2 as dependent on task 1 task 2 no longer gets automatically
scheduled after task 1. Instead, task 2 just sits there and an arrow gets
drawn showing the link, but no scheduling actually occurs. I have looked at
calendar settings, link types and not sure what I would have done that
changed this default behavior. How do I revert to the default behavior?

Hello Barton,
Check the following points:
- The calculation option is set to automatic : Tools / Options /
Calculation
- Task 2 has a date constraint such as "Must start on" : check in the Task
Information dialog / Advanced tab
- Task 2 has an Actual Start

Hope this helps,

Dear Gérard,

Thank you kindly for sharing your expertise. This issue began when we
installed the MS Team Foundation Client, which adds some functionality to
Project. I suspect that somehow this preference was changed, as I am fairly
certain I have never updated that preference myself before.

Your advice regarding the automatic / manual calculation was in fact the
issue. The setting was in manual mode. Placing it in automatic fixed the
issue.

Many thanks,

Barton

Another question for linking tasks in TF

Since you are working with linking tasks in Team Foundation I'd like to ask a
question regarding work items/task in Team foundation (not microsoft
project). Iis there a way to create dependency between tasks, meaning if the
developer task is completed the testing task is scheduled next and prompts
the tester that the program is ready for testimg? Does Team Foundation offer
this automation?

Etti.
