locked document

I can't do anything in word!! It just keeps saying "This
modification not allowed because document is locked"
This is happening even on new documents. I don't know
what to do. I can't figure out how it could have gotten
locked. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME??? I have a huge
report due!!

Also some clues available by using Word's "help" function. Search for
words: "document locked".

Have you activated your copy of Word? Look for Activate Product on the Help
menu. If it is there, click it. If you have already activated, you'll get a
message saying so; if not, you'll be taken through the activation procedure.

Have you activated your copy of Word? Check under the Help menu. If there is
a command there about "Activate" try it. If you have a version that doesn't
require activation there won't be such a command. If you have already
activated, it will tell you that.
