locked out of my own document

V

Valerie

I saved a document that I now cannot open because I can't
get into it to change the password. In actuality, I saved
it so well that I can't remember the password. I've tried
every password I've ever used and can only think that I
probably knocked off one of my favorites and missepelled
it. Any ideas as to how I can get the message "Check file
permission for document or drive" and then when I do that,
it comes up with "use file open dialogue box to locate the
document." I know where I saved it but can't open in a
read only either. HELP!!!

"Check file permission for document or drive" is not the message you get for
a password protected document (which incidentally would stay locked if you
cannot produce the password. There is no back door into the document).

This suggests a different problem see -
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm
Then re-register Word by typing windword /r then press enter in the Windows
start > run box.
