locked word document

i have no master documents, it is not shared over a network, and i have no
other copies of it open.

it says "This command is not available because the document is locked for
edit"

i can't make a new document, i can't do anything at all

this happened before and i ended up resintalling office, i would prefer not
to do that again.

Sounds like "reduced functionality mode" because you have not activated
Office or because you have a trial version that has expired. What happens if
you click on Help | Activate Product?

nothing happens...because the product is all ready registered :/

Can you open it in Wordpad? (Start, run and enter
wordpad.) Perhaps you could at least get the text copied
into another document.

Also, check for viruses.

Registration is not the same thing as activation.
