locking document areas

I understand that in Word 207 one can mark certain blocks of text as being
uneditable or undeleteable. Is this available in any previous versions if so
how and in what verisons?
Many thanks for any help you can give

Hi Johnny,
This is very much possible in the earlier versions of Word, say version
2003. You can use the Protect method of the Document object. You can protect
certain sections, certain areas in the document by creating bookmarks etc.

Thanks for the reply Pranav. I understand I can protect the entire document
but I don't understand how I can protect one paragraph and let another one in
the same document be editable?? You suggest using bookmarks - could you
explain how that would work.
Thanks
