I have a series of Word documents sent to me from offshore. Each of these
documents is in a discreet folder. Within the same folder is a file labeled
"images", containing 3-4 more file folders, each with images (jpeg screen
shots) that are linked by insert/picture/from file to the main Word document.
They were prepared that way to avoid Word instability and too large a file.
The problem: Each time I try and print one of these documents, it "loses"
the link and will not print the graphics. Up until the time I click "OK" to
print, the screen shot graphic is visable. After that they are no longer
there - just the outline with the little "x" in the upper left corner. Same
thing happens in Print Preview. The jpeg file names only vary in terms of
their "path" which changes depending upon the lowest level folder they reside
in. Meaning that some (root) file names are duplicated. But even the non
duplicated ones will not print.
The good news is that I do not lose the link forever. If I close the file
without saving it and re-open it the graphics are once again there. But
repeating the process "loses" the pictures onces again.
BTW - the offshore group does not have this problem.
