Losing the Text fields when I Save As a 2000-2003 format from Pro2

Using Project Pro 2007, when I do a Save As to the 2000-2003 format, my Text1
and Text2 field data disappears. Is this expected using 2007 or am I missing
something?

Thanks,

Hello Ron,

I'm unable to reproduce what you report. I've created a simple
project file in Project Professional 2007 with SP-1. I've added the
Text1 and Text2 task fields to the Entry table in the Gantt chart
view. Text1 I typed in data, Text2 I created a lookup table with
several options and selected several of the choices in the task list.

When saving to the Project 2002-2003 format and opening in Project
Professional 2003, the data in the Text1 and Text2 fields is there.
The Text2 field also retains the lookup fields.

Can you tell us more specifically what you have done? Have you
installed SP-1 to 2007?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

You're welcome Ron. The list of fixes documented in SP-1 was not all

Hi Ron,

Sorry to hear that SP-1 did not fix the problem with the missing data.
Just to make sure there isn't something that I am overlooking, please
confirm the following:

1)Project Professional 2007 with SP-1 is installed
2)Project file is not published to a Project Server
3)You have inserted the Text1 and Text2 fields into a Task View - which
view?
4)You have typed data into the Text1 and Text2 fields into the Task View
in 3 above- no custom attributes (formulas, etc.)
5)You save the file as Project 2000-2003 format
6)You open the file in Project 2003 Professional apply the same view as
number 3 above and the data is gone?

Please confirm each step. If you'd care to, you can zip the file and
send it to me by email. I'll open in Project 2007 and Project 2003 and
see if I see anything amiss. My email address is prjng[at]maine.rr.com

Julie - Responses to your questions:
1) Yes, Project Pro 2007 with SP-1 installed.
2) Project file is not published to Project Server, even though we have PS

Project file is being maintained by Project Pro 2007 outside of Project

3) Inserted into the Task Entry View.
4) Yes, no custom attributes, etc.
5) I'm saving as a Project 2000-2003 format
6) I open the file in Project 2002 Standard, applying same view as (3) above.

If the above doesn't help I'll email you the project file.

I have recently upgraded to Project 2007 Pro SP2 - some of my users are still using 2003. They provide feedback to me using TEXT3 which I have relabeled comments. I provide them a copy of the plan, they fill out the comments line and I apply the changes. This process was working fine until I installed 2007 yesterday and when I open their project they provide the comments (TEXT3) is blank - they can see it in 2003 but when I open in 2007 its blank???? Any ideas?

Hi Ron,

Go ahead and create two files if you can -- the original saved only in
Proj 2007 and another that you have "saved as" 2002-2003.

Zip them and send to prjng[AT]maine.rr.com

Try making sure that their column is displayed in the view when they save it
and send it back to you. That's worked for me in similar circumstances.

Any ideas?

Losing the Text fields when I Save As a 2000-2003 format from Pro2
Using Project Pro 2007, when I do a Save As to the 2000-2003 format, my Text1
and Text2 field data disappears. Is this expected using 2007 or am I missing
something?

Thanks,

Hello Ron,I'm unable to reproduce what you report.

Hi Julie - I do not have SP-1 installed yet. I will do that and see what
happens. Though I did check a list of SP-1 fixes I have and did not see this
problem noted.

Thanks, -Ron

You're welcome Ron.
You're welcome Ron. The list of fixes documented in SP-1 was not all
inclusive to the best of my knowledge. Just to do double check -- you
are talking about data appearing in Project Professional fields, not
PWA correct?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

That is correct. it is Project Pro, not PWA. -Ron

Thanks Ron. Try SP-1 and let us know how that goes.

Hi Ron,Sorry to hear that SP-1 did not fix the problem with the missing data.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Re: Losing the Text fields when I Save As a 2000-2003 format from
Julie - Responses to your questions:
1) Yes, Project Pro 2007 with SP-1 installed.
2) Project file is not published to Project Server, even though we have PS
2007.
Project file is being maintained by Project Pro 2007 outside of Project
Server.
3) Inserted into the Task Entry View.
4) Yes, no custom attributes, etc.
5) I'm saving as a Project 2000-2003 format
6) I open the file in Project 2002 Standard, applying same view as (3) above.

If the above doesn't help I'll email you the project file.
