Lost connection to my 1&1 Exchange Server

Hi,

I am using Entourage since 1,5 years and had never that problem before.

Entourage lost the connection to my exchange Server, in the account there is only shown "offline". It doesn´t synchronize AND I couldn´t send any e-mail from this account.

I didn´t change anything on my computer and I have exactly the same error on my MB air. So same error on two macs.

On both macs I could use the OWA with my browser OR use Microsoft Outlook 2007 within a virtual machine. Both things work well.

How can I repair my entourage, so that it synchronizes with the 1&1 Exchange account again?

Thanks!

I had the same problem today on one of my accounts. Here's how I solved it:
I control-clicked (or right-clicked) on the Inbox on that account and
selected Empty Cache. I then selected a folder NOT on that Exchange server
and then selected (left-clicked) the Inbox. Entourage downloaded all my
messages again and (so far) things are working as normal.

Good luck.

Hi Ed,

thanks!

I already tried that, the problem is that if I klick on my Exchange-INBOX I didn´t get the option to (Folder)Preferences - it is an not available option. I think this is the case, because Entourage is not connected to the exchangeServer!

So any other ideas of how I can make Entourage try to connect with the exchange server?

If I could achieve that, I would get another error message that helps to find the problem.

If I try to send a mail through my exchange account I get the error "end of file"...

There's definitely a problem with your account beyond what a cache
clear will fix.

Try creating a new identity (Entourage menu) and re-add your account
from scratch. Does it work there? If so, there's a problem with your
original identity and it may be worth starting fresh (especially if all
your email is saved on the server).

If not, there may be a problem with your settings.

The file that has reached it's end is often the preferences file. Move the
'Microsoft' folder out of your local preferences folder and try again. If
this fails, end of file means the file is too corrupted to rebuild.

Hi Diane, hi Adam,

thanks for your feedback.

1) I tried to generate a New identity. Same problem. (Or should I really erase the old ones and try it from scratch?

2) I already tried the "move" the Microsoft file thing, it didn´t help.

So the core problem is, that Entourage doesn´t seem to try to get in connection with the Exchange account (OWA Account).

Anybody has an idea, of how I can make sure, that Entourage really tries to connect to it?

Thanks

Sven

You can also try creating a new User on your Mac OS X.

I see a lot of complaints on this forum about 1&1. I'm not convinced
that their service is very reliable.

This sounds like your connecting server has changed, not Entourage. Have
you verified that you can connect to your account via Outlook Web Access
(OWA)? If so, what does the URL look like after you've logged in?

hi bill,

thanks. THe actual situation is:

1) At Home no connection with Entourage to the 1und1 Exchange-Server

2) Last week I went to a McDonalds Hotspot and connected from there. Everything is fine. Entourage synct and I could send/recieve mails.

3) 3 days ago I had 10min access to my 1und1 Exchange, but after 10 mins it was gone and since then is hasn´t changed.

My Question: Is there a "procedure" of how I can really check, if Entourage tries to connect with the OWA-Exchange and how can I check if the WEBDAV-Access is possible?

I mean, I know the ports, but is there a simpler way instead of a port sniff?

Thanks guys!

When you're unable to connect with Entourage, are you able to connect to
your account through Outlook Web Access (OWA)?

Hi Guys,

the problem is solved!

I got the solution from the Microsoft Support!

It was an 1&1 exchange-account problem. The funny thing is, that the 1&1 exchange support hotline GAVE up, they didn´t had a clue.

1&1 moved the exchange-accounts to another serverlocation and did forget to inform the customers.

I only had to change my account to <https://profimailer2.de/e12345> and everything worked fine.
The old server adress was: profimailer.de

So, if anybody has problems with it´s exchange account triple check with your exchange-provider that the WEBDAV service is properly running and installed. THat was basically the problem.
They (1&1) didn´t find the problem, thats why they moved the accounts to another server.

Without telling it to the customers. Normal Exchange-Access was not affected, only through WEBDAV you need the specific hard adress of the server.

Cheers

Hi Sven

We had exactly the same problem for the past 2 weeks and were pulling out our hair to find a solution. No help from 1und1 at all.

However, your solution to change the server address to profimailer2.de solved everything and it worked again instantly, 2 days ago. THANK YOU...!

BUT..... the same NICHT VERBUNDEN message happened again this evening and it no longer works...! Have tried changing back to profimailer.de as well as profimailer2.de but no luck. 1und1 helpline of course have no clue....

Do you have any more ideas. is yours still working today?

Best regards

D & M
