maintaing existing date format when using mail merge

When i use mail merge to to access data from Excel 2003 and use in Publisher
2003 document, the format of dates in my Excel file is automatically
converted from australian date format to US format in the Publisher file.
Is there any way i can keep the australian date format in the Excel file and
have it translate into the same format in the Publisher file.

Check to make sure under Control Panel > Regional & Language Options is all
set to Australian English.
Unfortunately the Americans try to force themselves on all the world. Once
you change that setting and re-boot you should have all your dates and
spelling in the correct format. One day the Americans will catch up with
the rest of the world.
