MAJOR FrontPage Issues!

E

Ember

I created our new web site in FP 2003 last summer and restricted a portion of
our site by adding a user name and password requirement. I now can not
remember, nor locate, where I put this code and I need to remove it!

I did not create a sub site but my web host does have FrontPage extensions
activated. The web host files are not protected, so the code for the login
information is contained somewhere in FP 2003.

Anybody have any suggestions? I have looked at all the MS documentation on
protecting a web site, but none of these look like the coding that I added
last summer.

Thanks!

The only way that FP can be used directly to create restricted section is by creating a
subweb/subsite.

If you are hosted on Linux/Unix then you may have modified the .htaccess file directly or via your
CPanel.

Nope, never created a subsite nor changed anything to my .htaccess file
(don't think I ever created one).

Ended up moving all the files out of the _private folder that was created,
and placed them on the same "level" as all other website pages. Now those
pages are not "protected" anymore.

I guess now I can start the process of creating the subsite line of
thinking...

BTW...anyone know how to handle browser problems with Firefox? Pages look
fine with IE but look like crap in Firefox.

Thanks!

Yep, I had to completly removed all the pages from my site and put them back
in and that seemed to remove any protection I had placed on there.

Do you have any advice for making my site look better on Firefox browsers?

Thanks!

Don't use WordArt, Autoshapes...or anything from FP's Draw toolbar.

Doesn't work with Opera either! Think you need to have a rethink about
graphics and fonts.
