Major publishing problem.

When I sometimes try to publish my site, it will start to
go and then get stuck and the status bar will stay in the
same place. So the only thing I can do is close the
window, right when it says "Processing up dates". But
when I do it then erases all the site banner names so
they are blank. Then I have to make just a small change
so I am able to save the page so it will be able to be
published again and the same thing happens. AUGHH!!!!
