Making comments on an assigned task

My boss has sent me a task and he wants me to update the comments under his
task folder, but it wont let me add comments. It will let me update the
progress such as 50% complete, etc. I can create a task and make comments and
share it with my boss, but he will have to go to my tasks to read my comments
and he does not want to have to do that. He has shared his folder with me and
he has given me permission to add or make changes or whatever I have to do to
make it work. I have read the help topics and tried them, but it still does
not let me make comments to his tasks that he assigned to me. Does anyone
have any suggestions?
