Making Saturday Working Day

Pallavi

Hello,

I am working on Microsoft Project 2000. I want to make the calendar
for my project as saturday working day. I created a new calendar
before creating the project schedule with only sunday as non-working
day. And, after creating project and before creating schedule, I
assigned the calendar to the project (Project->Project
Information...). But, still when I assign 2 day schedule starting from
Friday, the Calendar view shows the task from Friday to Monday instead
of Friday to Saturday.
Can you help me how can I resolve this issue?
Thanx in advance..

Or you could just let the people off on Satursday and
close the shop down. I am sure they deserve the break,
besides, it will solve your calendar issue.

When you assign the custom calendar to the task, you
should check the box "Scheduling ignores resource
calendars"

Hi,
Thanx a lot for your suggestion, but this should be given to our boss.
I am just an employee.
Still, it is not properly creating the schedule. I started off again
from the beginning. Set the options from Tools->Options->Calendar.
Made hrs per week as 48 and days per month as 25. Also before creating
new project, I created 1 calendar. & the whole procedure as before..
:( but, still the same result. And, now it is showing like, if I enter
2 days starting from Wed, then it shows Start date as Wed and Finish
date as Fri instead of Thu. I am totally confused. Will you just test
these things on your PC and tell me whare I am getting wrong?

Hello,

I got the solution for this. I was setting working time just for the
new calendar that I was creating. These working day assignment should
be made for all the resources that are used in the project. So, I also
set saturday as working day for my name 'Pallavi' in 'Change Working
time' screen. Now, it is working fine. Thank you everybody.. :)

But, this setting I have to make for all the task. Instead, it is less
tedious to update resource calendar itself.
Am I right? What do you think?

Yes, you are right! The best way is to assign *your* calendar to the
resources in the Resource Sheet.
