Master plan - reports/views

M

Magda

Hello,
I've created a master plan for 6 projects, and I'd like to produce reports
or views that indicate all tasks. Right now, in calendar view tasks are shown
but are NOT attached to projects, so I have no way of knowing which project
that task belongs to. Same with creating resource or task reports for the
master plan. Project name does not seem to be attached to tasks, which makes
the whole excersise of creating a master plan quite useless for me.
Please help!

Hi
I suggest you make use of some other view like Gantt Chart which gives you
names of task along with project.
Calendar view will not be ideal view to generate reports.
You can also create custom views based on what information you want in your
report.

Hope this helps

Hi Magda,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try Format, Bar Styles..., Select non-critical. In the Text section, you
will see the default fields of Name,Duration. Type a comma and Project.
This will put the project name in the bar. Repeat for critical tasks.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Thank you Mike, I appreciate your response.
This definately helped.

Is there a resource you can point to for creating advanced reporting?
I'd like to generate reports for my team that break down by Team > Resource
Project > Task. None of the reports in ms project 2003 std provide that,
and I tried custom reports quite unsuccessfully.
Also, would the pro version of the software have more robust reporting
features?

Thank you again!

You're welcome, Magda :)

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #24 on reports, at this site:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

The Pro version used on a single desktop is no different from the Standard
version. The Pro version is designed to be used with Project Server which
has far more facilities for communicating project information.
