MDI

I have installed the office 2003 to my new computer running by Windows Vista,
and I have downloaded the office 2003 Service pack 3.

I notice that when I am trying to print a documents through Microsoft
Document Imaging the printed documents can not be saved in MDI format even
though I select this from the advanced tab of the Printer Properties.
However, this does not happen if I select tiff output format.

How can I save the documents in the MDI format through Microsoft Document
Imaging?

Here is the sequence of what happen:

1. I select from the printer dialogue box the printer option of Microsoft
Document Imaging Writer and I click the properties tab and click on the
advance tab and check MDI and OK.
2. A " Save As" dialogue box open and I selected the destination that I want
to save and click " save"
3. The printer dialogue box disappear and nothing happen. Sometime a
"Progress" dialogue box appear showing the % of progress but disappeared a
short while later but nothing being saved.
4. A small "printer" icon will appear after "3" above at the right hand side
of the Task Bar.
5. However, if in the one above, I select tiff instead on MDI, then I can
get the saved documents in Monochrome form.
