Messages in inbox and all folders are "editable" and need to turn

Is there a setting somewhere that I can turn off the ability to edit any of
the fields in all my email messages? For example, in my inbox, if I click on
any of the fields, subject, from, to, etc., I can edit that field! I don't
want to be able to do this. HELP!

View->Arrange By->Current View->Customize Current View->Other Settings->
Uncheck "Allow in-cell editing". Kinda convoluted, eh? :)

It's your data, so why would you not want to be able to edit it? At any
rate, I don't believe it's possible to disable that, except if you're using
Exchange on a Windows Server 2003 with the Data Rights Management feature
installed, and even then, perhaps not. (I can't test.)

No - I think she means the ability to edit by single-clicking on a message
header in a folder's contents view, not editing the message itself.

Oh bless you Themis! I was even looking around in that specific area and
just didn't see it. I turned it on years ago and only recently did it begin
to bother me. Convoluted doesn't cover it! You're wonderful!

Brian - Themis is right -- and he solved the issue already. But thank you for
answering! It was something simple. Oy!

I see that now, from the further discussion you has with her. Thanks.

For Outlook 2007 Search folders, checking "Allow in-cell editing" is not
persistent - i.e., it is turned off automagically if you view another folder
and then return to the search folder. [it was persistent in OL2003] Anybody
have a fix for this?

I searched MS help forever trying to find this answer - found yours on my 1st
try when I selected (Search community)

Thank you!!!!!!!!!
