Microsoft Home Publisher 2000

We are looking for a program that is compatible with this that we can load on
another computer to create a phone directory with pictures. We would like to
be able to transfer files between this program and the new one. What should
we be looking for? Cost is an issue.

Thank you

Unfortunately Home PublishING is not the same thing as PublishER. And it
used it's own format. Unless you have a retail copy of the software and can
install it on a new computer, you will have to start from scratch. I know
that's not what you wanted to hear but ...

Though the names are similar...MS Home
Publishing and MS Publisher are very different
apps. The .php files from Home Publishing are
*not compatible* with any version of MS Publisher.

MS Home Publishing .php files are compatible
with all MS Picture It! / MS Digital Image programs.

The MS Picture It! / MS Digital Image line of
products has been discontinued but the last
version "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006
Anniversary Edition" may still be found at some
retail stores...and possibly on Amazon or eBay.

There's a 60 day trial version available for
download if you would like to give it a try:

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
download the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

After you import a .php file into MS Digital
Image, edit the file and re-save it ...it will be
in the .PNG-PLUS format and will no longer
be editable in MS Home Publishing.

Publisher can create great directories with pictures. There is a trial download.
Take a look at this article:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HP101921831033.aspx?pid=CH100502901033

The trial download is here:

Publisher 2003 was the first version that offered the catalog merge; you might
be able to find an inexpensive copy.
Amazon still has 2003
