Microsoft Word 2000 Will Not Open

E

Elizabeth

I recently deleted Internet Explorer 5.5 from my computer
(because I had no use for it), and that very same day was
no longer able to access Microsoft Word or Microsoft Works
Suite... I am under the assumption that these are linked,
but I may be wrong. Regardless, these are the only things
I am unable to open on my computer, and when I try to open
them I am told that they are not responding because
my "system is dangerously low in resources" and that I
need to close down other applications.

However, this error occurs no matter how few applications
I have running at one time. It occurs only in Word and
Works Suite, but everything else is fine, so I don't think
this is really a memory issue. I have done recent checks
with Stinger and Norton and I have no viruses.

Someone please help me. English majors know nothing of
computers and need Word to work for them!

It just sounds like you should reinstall Office (or
whatever it is you're using). There may have been some
sort of link. I had a similar problem when cleaning out
my computer,I could not get into some of the programs in
MS Office myself--so I uninstalled and reinstalled. You
should have a back up CD that came with your computer or
with the purchase of the programs.
